Directed by Kahlil Joseph, this video/movie for Shabazz Palaces is a beautiful dreamworld inside the dreamworld known as Watts, CA(pay attention to your dreams). Before this I was not up on Shabazz Palaces but certainly familiar with the dude on the mic- Butterfly from Digable Planets. If you don’t get inspired by this…well…open your eye and watch it again.

Recently I asked the question via Facebook status “What do the words CREATIVELY PROSPEROUS mean to you?”and the response was very valuable:
KH- very close to creative class, organic, authentic, paradigm shift etc etc.
KM- Awareness of your power 2 consciously create every experience.
JC- Part of being “creatively prosperous”, or even the act of being Creative… Is to always add VALUE to the world. I think it should always be a “giving out/back” rather than “taking in”
RW- I’d say it depends on who’s saying it. In communication, context is everything. If a designer said he’s “creatively prosperous”, it might mean that society is willing to pay him for what he loves doing. If an entrepreneur said it, he might mean that he is able to discover and execute great business ideas. If an environmentalist said it, he might mean that he can live with less and still flourish. All of them seem to imply an overlap of passion and economics.
CP(Ric)- For me creativity comes in waves. Sometimes small waves other times tidal waves or tsunamis. Weather calm or violent, the light bulb like trance IS the gift. So often when i say I want to continue to be ‘creatively prosperous’ i mean to say i want to always be in tuned to when the waves are coming, and always be able to catch the wave with style. I‘ve never surfed before but I imagine it to be much the same.
Now as I grow, time is money more than ever so hopefully the waves are carrying more than seaweed.(metaphor officially murdered)
